Dr. Samantha Roberts Case Study Competition

Sadly, 2021 saw the passing of Dr. Samantha Roberts. She was a beloved member of the ASMA community. Sam had a strong passion for student development and mentorship. In 2022, the case study competition was renamed to honor Dr. Roberts and her service to ASMA and the sport management discipline.
Case Study Competition
Teams registered for the competition will receive detailed case study information and guidelines one month prior to the conference. Each team’s advisor will receive the case study information and guidelines via email. When registering a team, please be aware of the following:
- Teams must be comprised of three (3) or four (4) students. All participating teams must also have one (1) advisor registered for the conference.
- Graduate students are prohibited from participating in the undergraduate competition. Undergraduate students can participate on a team in the graduate competition if doing so is necessary to have an adequate number of team members.
- Teams will submit a written case study document one week prior to the conference and deliver a presentation of approximately 15 minutes during the conference. The entire written document and presentation must be completed only by the student team members. Advisors may provide verbal guidance and feedback to students, but they cannot write or create any part of the case study. Any team found in violation of this clause will be disqualified from the competition.
- Details of the 2026 case will be released to each team’s case study advisor four weeks prior to the conference. If your program plans to participate in the 2026 case study competition, please submit your team’s intent here: ASMA 2026 Case Study Intent Form
